Events: Christmas Shows

What a hectic morning! I discovered the event I’m performing at tonight is actually tomorrow night, so now I have two events on tomorrow night. Gonna be a mad scramble but I’ll get to both. 

So, tomorrow if you’re in Mount Druitt, come on down to the M.D. Scout hall after 4pm to play some carnival games, eat great festival style food, and hang out with the Living Bread team… We have a jumping castle!! And a lovely Christmas carols service starting at 7.30pm.

If you’re in the Granville area, come out to Granville Park from 5pm for a Christmas concert plus multicultural food, arts & crafts. Concert from 6.30 to. 9pm & I’m on stage about 6.45 (before madly dashing back to Mounty county, lol).

Black Stump 2014 Schedule

~Entree:

  • Friday night (tba) – Poets’ Showcase: Dark Shadows and Bright Lights. The poets of Stump explore positives and negatives of our individual faith journeys.

~First Course:

  • Saturday 1pm – Poets’ Think Tank. Workshop your own poems and get tips from us on things like metaphor, rhyme and form, and how to get published.
  • Saturday 10.05pm – “Dear Dr. Freud: The Insomnia Monologues“. A short poetry and storytelling experience, everything from Freud to Feminism and back again!

~Second Course:

  • Sunday 1pm – Black Stump Writers’ Symposium. For writers, bloggers, poets, comedians, and anyone who’s ever picked up a pen. Come along and explore your writing craft with fellow wordsmiths.
  • Sunday 4.30pm – Poetry Slam. Got a poem that’s gonna rock our socks off? Bring it along and have a go!

~Dessert:

  • Sunday 8pm – WordPlay – an interactive and creative workshop blending poetry and visual art in exciting and conceptual ways.

Countdown to Black Stump 2011!

I got invited to come perform at Black Stump this year – which is awesome because it’s going to be back at the “real” stump venue – Cataract Park!  The Equestrian park was “okay”, but for me Cataract Park will be the only place for Stump!  So I’m excited about it being back at Appin, and am looking forward to 4 days of rain, mud, stomp, great music, baptist donuts – oh yeah, and me on stage!  :)

My show this year is called “Poems to Burn Your Bra By” and it’s all about self-expression, freedom and rebellion.  What can I say?  That’s just the kind of mood I’m in lately, haha.  So it will be a great show, and I highly recommend you come and see me!!

But if you need more excuses/reasons, it’s honestly a great weekend filled with lots of stuff to see and do, no matter who you are.  Yes, it’s a Christian festival, and there’s plenty of Christian teaching and worship and stuff to reflect on… but you don’t need to be Christian to go, there’s lots of music and artsy stuff to keep you entertained!!

So I think you should come along!  And I think you should click the link below to buy a ticket – because I get a commission, haha.  But seriously, do come along, and if you do, then don’t forget to come check out my show!  Just – um… yeah, leave your bras on.  The title is a METAPHOR (sorry to all those looking forward to actually burning their bras)!
