About Me

I am an American-born, Kiwi-bred Aussie. I am a geek, a poet, a thinker, a seeker. I am passionate, curious, resourceful, stubborn, independent. I’m an “extroverted introvert”. I am a spiritual person. I believe in destiny, I believe in fate. I want to be a better person. I want to help make the world a better place. I see life as a journey, an opportunity for constant growth and learning.

I like sushi and octopuses (and yes that’s the correct pluralisation), a good cup of coffee, fluffy cats, the shuffle function on Spotify, a walk on a beach on a grey day, the sound of a raging thunderstorm, a nap in the shade on a warm afternoon… Simple things make me happy, small moments of grace make me smile.

My Art:

I’ve been writing poetry ever since I could spell my own name, and got into spoken word over twenty years ago now (dear lord I’m old). I’ve done some slams and poetry events, community festivals, arts and music festivals.  I’ve tread the boards a few times for community theatre. I also play a little piano, sing a little bit, and dabble in drawing, painting, and costume making. I wouldn’t say I’m an expert at any of those things by any stretch of the imagination, but I have fun!!

I do what I do because I think everyone should engage in the process of self-expression through art to some degree, whether it be music, art, writing, poetry, or just standing on your head in public.  I believe that it’s not your level of talent or expertise that counts, but the experience of doing it and the lessons learned through that endeavour…  the experience of letting go and being a channel for the subconscious stuff within.
